Acetate Satin: 100% acetate, very shiny and crisp, inexpensive, good for most type of skirts, wrinkles easily.
Crepe-back satin: 100% polyester, inexpensive, has a very shiny satin side and a duller crepe side, great for straight and a-line skirts, drapes well.
Chiffon: comes in silk or polyester, flowing and breezy fabric, almost transparent, great for bias-cut, full or a-line skirts, drapes very well.
Charmeuse: comes in silk or polyester, very thin and lightweight with a satin finish on one side, great for bias-cut and straight skirts, drapes very well.
Peau de Soie or Lamour Satin: satin side is not as shiny as an acetate or crepe-back satin (matte finish), great body, good for straight, full, a-line, or mermaid skirts.
Poly Microfiber: 100% polyester, has the satin finish of a peau de soie but drapes better, great for straight, a-line, mermaid skirts, does not wrinkle, washable.
Silk Dupioni: 100% silk, very textural, great body, comes in machine or hand-woven (hand-woven has more slubs), great for most type of skirts.
Silk Satin: 100% silk, incredible feel and body, expensive, matte satin finish, great for most type of skirts.
Taffeta: comes in silk or polyester, great body, very smooth and crisp, good for most type of skirts and for those who do not like the shiny look.
Jacquard: the name of the guy who invented the type of loom that makes them... Brocade, damask and tapestries are all types of Jacquard fabrics.
Brocade: A woven, patterned fabric using multi-colored threads. A raised pattern in relief against the background. May use metallic treads as part of the pattern. Used in upholstery and clothing. Normally is a heavier fabric.
Velvet: Rich looking fabric with a thick pile.
Organza: Organza basically refers to a thin, plain weave, a sheer fabric which is made out of continuous filament of silk yarn worms. Many organzas are woven with synthetic filament fibers like nylon and polyester.
Stretch Fabric: Spandex fabric can bounce back to its original structure even after stretching up to 600 times. Highly durable superior strength spandex fabric is resistant to dry heat and oil. Providing great comfort and flexibility it does not put on weight on the body of the wearer.
